My Process
1. Chaos
Most of my projects start out looking like the images above - a big chaotic sprawl of ideas with nothing off-limits.
From here, I can cherry-pick ideas to see what works and what doesn't.
It’s important to keep this process fast paced and keep questioning the effectiveness of an idea, as not to settle with anything prematurely.
2. Method to the madness
Eventually, after some to-ing and fro-ing, an idea begins to come together.
This is usually after experimenting with multiple ideas, compositions and colour schemes, and often returning to the drawing board a few times.
2. Keep on questioning…
Most of the time things aren’t quite right first time round.
After colouring my rough, it didn't really seem like my smoothie explosion was doing much.
So, I returned my initial toolkit of ideas to try and give the scene a bit more kinetic energy
3. Rough
Here the illustration is at it’s last stage before final outcome.
Generally, very few changes are made to the design after this point.
